At Novita Counseling, therapy is tailored to you. Your experiences, your goals, and the kind of life you want to build.
I work with people who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, anxious, or affected by painful experiences from the past. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in evidence-based care.
You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We can begin with where you are.
Therapy Services
Trauma & PTSD
Trauma can stay with you in ways that are not always obvious.
Sometimes it looks like flashbacks, nightmares, or feeling constantly on edge. Other times, it shows up as shutting down during conflict, overthinking everything, avoiding certain people or places, struggling to trust, feeling disconnected from your body, or wondering why you react so strongly to situations that seem small on the surface.
You may understand intellectually that something is over and still feel as though your nervous system never got the message.
I provide trauma-informed therapy for those who want to better understand what happened to them, how it is affecting them now, and how to move forward without feeling defined by the past.
Our work may focus on reducing distressing trauma symptoms, processing painful experiences, rebuilding a sense of safety, strengthening boundaries, improving relationships, and helping you feel more present and in control of your life.
Depending on your needs, I may incorporate approaches such as EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other evidence-based trauma treatments. Therapy is always collaborative, and we move at a pace that respects your comfort, readiness, and goals.
You do not have to tell your entire story all at once, and you do not have to relive every painful detail in order for therapy to be meaningful.
Healing from trauma is not about pretending the past did not happen. It is about helping the past take up less space in the life you are living now.
If trauma, PTSD, or painful past experiences are keeping you from feeling like yourself, I would be honored to help you take the next step.
Relationships, Boundaries, & Self-Worth
The way we relate to other people is often shaped by what we have learned about love, safety, conflict, and our own worth.
You may notice that you have a hard time saying no, feel responsible for other people’s emotions, avoid conflict at all costs, overextend yourself, or repeatedly end up in relationships that leave you feeling depleted. You might know that a pattern is unhealthy and still feel unsure how to change it.
Sometimes these struggles are connected to past relationships, family dynamics, trauma, or experiences that taught you to prioritize keeping the peace over listening to yourself.
I help people better understand the patterns showing up in their relationships and build a stronger, more secure relationship with themselves.
Our work may focus on setting healthier boundaries, improving communication, recognizing unhealthy relationship dynamics, building self-trust, reducing people-pleasing, strengthening self-worth, and learning how to stay connected to others without losing yourself in the process.
Therapy can also help you explore why certain relationships feel so emotionally intense, why conflict may feel threatening, or why it can be difficult to believe that your needs matter too.
The goal is not to become less caring or more guarded. It is to help you create relationships that allow room for honesty, safety, mutual respect, and your own sense of self.
You are allowed to have needs. You are allowed to set limits. And you are allowed to build relationships that do not require you to abandon yourself in order to keep them.
If you are tired of repeating the same relationship patterns or questioning your own worth, therapy can help you begin creating something healthier.
Anxiety and Overwhelm
Anxiety can make life feel much harder than it looks from the outside.
You may be functioning, working, caring for others, and getting through your responsibilities, all while internally feeling tense, exhausted, overextended, or unable to shut your mind off. You might replay conversations, worry about things that have not happened yet, struggle to relax, feel irritable or restless, or constantly feel as though there is something else you should be doing.
Sometimes anxiety is loud and obvious. Other times, it looks like perfectionism, people-pleasing, overpreparing, procrastination, difficulty making decisions, or feeling emotionally drained by everyday life.
I help adults understand what is driving their anxiety and develop more effective ways of responding to stress, uncertainty, and difficult thoughts and emotions.
Our work may focus on reducing overwhelm, building healthier coping skills, learning how to slow down without guilt, strengthening boundaries, increasing self-trust, and helping you feel more present in your own life.
Depending on your needs, I may incorporate approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, and other evidence-based techniques.
The goal is not to make sure you never feel anxious again. Anxiety is a normal part of being human. The goal is to help you feel less controlled by it — so that worry, fear, and overwhelm no longer have to dictate your choices.
You deserve to feel like your life is something you are living, not just managing.
If anxiety or overwhelm has been taking up too much space in your life, therapy can help you find a calmer, more grounded way forward.
